Qualified Charitable Distributions
QCD is a great way to reduce required minimum distributions (RMDs) and optimize tax benefits of giving.
What is a QCD?
QCDs allow individuals age 70½ and older to make tax-free donations directly from an IRA to a qualified charity, potentially satisfying all or part of their annual RMDs from their IRA accounts.
QCD Limit
For tax year 2025, you can donate up to $108,000 to a charity. Your QCD must be done as a direct transfer from the IRA to the charity of your choice.
Are QCDs tax deductible?
A QCD doesn't offer a tax deduction, but the QCD amount isn't included in your taxable income either. The amount transferred from the IRA to charity as a QCD counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD). Using a QCD to satisfy your RMD can reduce adjusted gross income (AGI).
IS a QCD right for you to give to us?? Your financial advisor and tax professional can help make sure your giving strategy aligns with your retirement goals as well as any changes to tax rules.
