Compassion for All ~ We treat every pet and person with empathy, kindness, and respect - regardless of background or circumstance. Our work is rooted in the belief that every life has value.
Community Commitment ~ We are dedicated to serving Middle Tennessee by promoting public awareness, partnerships, and access to resources that build a healthier, more informed pet-loving community.
Education & Empowerment ~ We believe responsible pet care starts with knowledge. Through outreach and educational initiatives, we equip pet owners to make informed, compassionate choices for their animals.
Accessibility & Affordability ~ We are committed to reducing barriers to veterinary care by offering low-cost spay and neuter services and health resources for pets in need.
Prevention-Focused Approach ~ We believe in proactive care. By focusing on spay/neuter and public education, we aim to prevent overpopulation and animal suffering before it begins.
Collaboration Over Competition ~ We work alongside individuals, organizations, veterinarians, and agencies to amplify our impact—because the well-being of pets and people is a shared responsibility.
Jesse C. Beesley, a local noted sculptor, was instrumental in forming the first humane society in Rutherford County in 1976. He inspired the formation of the spay/neuter clinic in 1992.
Beesley is especially proud it was instrumental in establishing the requirement that all adopted animals be spayed/neutered, and in support of that requirement we operate an affordable spay/neuter clinic where approximately 250 surgeries are performed each month.
Since the opening of our clinic in May 1992, Beesley Animal Clinic has performed over 76,000 Spay/Neuter surgeries. Today the Beesley Animal Foundation operates Beesley Animal Clinic and is dedicated to decreasing the suffering caused by pet overpopulation.
In addition to the Beesley Animal Clinic, four other programs fall under the Beesley Animal Foundation (BAF) umbrella to support community pets and pet owners.
Educate - BAF strives to educate the community about responsible pet care including how spay/neuter and pet wellness are necessary in making sure pets remain healthy. Healthy pets are Happy pets!!
Kind News, a magazine promoting “Kindness, Respect, Responsibility” to pets and people, is provided to elementary schools in Rutherford and Cannon counties.
Assist Financially - BAF offers financial assistance to those underserved including low-income individuals, senior citizens, and those facing homelessness. Qualified individuals receive assistance to spay/neuter their cat or dog and sometimes vaccinations. For more information - See Financial Assistance here
Community Outreach - Through this program BAF partners with various organizations in Rutherford and Cannon counties to distribute cat and dog food with their human food drives. Since 2016, over 45,000 pounds of pet food has been distributed throughout Middle TN. We partner with senior centers and other community organizations to give vaccinations to the cats and dogs of the homeless, underserved, and seniors.
